  • What is a Community Health Center?

    Community Health Centers are local, non-profit health care centers found throughout the country.  For over 40 years the national network of community health centers has provided high-quality, affordable health care and are located in medically underserved areas. Our Health Center offers integrated and coordinated medical, dental and behavioral health care under one roof.
  • I have health insurance, so why would I want to go to a Health Center?

    The Rockbridge Area Health Center is your community health center. We offer health care to EVERYONE in our community. The Health Center offers medical, dental and behavioral health care for the entire family in one location and provides for insured, uninsured, Medicare and Medicaid patients.
  • How do I know if my income will qualify me to be a patient at the Health Center?

    There are no income restrictions to receiving care at the Health Center. Depending on your family income and family size, you may qualify for financial assistance. We accept medical and dental insurances, as well as Medicaid and Medicare.
  • What if I am late for my appointment?

    A patient who arrives 10 minutes after their scheduled appointment time will not be seen.
  • I am new to the Health Center. Can I complete a registration packet before I arrive?

    Yes. We encourage new patients to complete their registration information prior to an appointment and offer a downloadable registration packet on this website. Click on “Forms” and “New Patients”.
  • What is the Health Center’s cancellation policy?

    In order to meet the needs of all of our patients, cancellations must be made at least 24-hours in advance. Patients that cancel without notice or arrive more than 10 minutes late (or any combination) on three occasions within a year will only be seen as a walk-in patient.
  • How long does it take to get an appointment with a doctor?

    We offer appointments as quickly as possible with all of our providers. We are accepting new patients for medical, dental and behavioral health care. Call for an appointment at 540.464.8700, option 1.
  • What if I need specialty care?

    The Health Center has a full-time Referral Coordinator that helps to ensure referrals from RAHC to Specialty Offices are scheduled in-network with the patient’s insurance and offers financial assistance when there is a need.
  • My child is newly enrolled in school. Can RAHC provide him/her with a physical?

    Yes.  Our practitioners provide physical exams to patients of all ages, as well as provides immunizations and seasonal flu shots.
  • My children use Medicaid and my parents are on Medicare. Can the Rockbridge Area Health Center help?

    Yes. We welcome Medicare and Medicaid patients.
  • Where is Rockbridge Area Health Center located?

    The Health Center is located off Route 11 between Spencer Home Center and Magic City Ford. Our address is 25 Northridge Lane, Lexington, VA 24450.  We are also a designated stop on the Maury River Express.

  • How do patients pay for services at the Center?

    The Center accepts most forms of medical and dental insurances, including Medicare and Medicaid, and offers savings to insured and uninsured patients though our Sliding Fee Discount Program based on household size and income.  We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, Paypal, and personal checks for all services and CareCredit for dental serivces.
  • Does the Center provide primary medical care?

    Yes. The Health Center provides a full range of primary medical care for the entire family, including preventive care visits, sick visits, school, sports and DOT/CDL physicals, immunizations, men and women’s health procedures, labs, and EKGs. Same day and next day appointments are available.
  • Does the Center provide dental care?

    Yes. The Health Center provides a full range of emergency, preventive, and restorative services, including teeth cleaning, extractions, and fillings.  Initial appointments typically include a dental exam and cleaning, x-rays, and the development of a treatment plan. Same day and next day appointments are available.
  • Does the Center provide Behavioral Health care and Psychiatric services?

    Yes. The Health Center provides a full range of behavioral health care and psychiatric services for our patients.
  • The Health Center advertises “integrated and coordinated health care under one roof.” What does this mean for me and my family?
