The Rockbridge Area Health Center offers numerous ways for donors to support the organization while meeting their philanthropic and financial goals. Consultation with professional advisors in financial and estate planning is always recommended when considering a gift.
Cash Gifts & Pledges
Cash and cash equivalents are the gifts of choice for most donors, either as an annual gift or pledged over a five-year period. Multi-year pledges are an ideal way for donors to provide significant support to the Rockbridge Area Health Center. Gifts of cash may be deducted from taxable income for the years in which they are made when donors itemizes their deductions.
Many donors are able to increase the impact of their gift program with a Matching Gift by their employers. Please consult your employer regarding this type of opportunity.
Gifts of Stock or Other Appreciated Assets
Outright gifts of appreciated stocks, bonds and/or mutual funds provide substantial tax advantages to donors. When these appreciated assets are given directly to the Rockbridge Area Health Center, donors are free of capital gains tax. Donors may also claim a tax deduction equal to the fair market value of the securities on the date of delivery.
Planned gifts can offer significant estate tax and income benefits, while at the same time allow donors to make larger gifts to the Rockbridge Area Health Center.
Neighborhood Assistance Program
NAP Credits: The purpose of the Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) is to encourage businesses, trusts and individuals to make donations to approved 501(c) (3) organizations for the benefit of low-income persons. In return for their contributions, businesses, trusts and individuals may receive tax credits equal to 65 percent of the donation that may be applied against their state income tax liability.
