Family Dentistry at the Rockbridge Area Health Center includes dental care for the whole family – from infants and school-age children to adolescents, adults, and seniors. We are concerned with your dental health at every stage of growth and development: Young children should be introduced to regular dental care and good oral hygiene. Young adults should find time for regular dental check up to avoid problems as they mature, and dental care for the elderly is important to assure good chewing function for optimal nutrition.
Our dental services include:
- Sealants and Fluoride
- In-school program
- Referrals to oral surgeons
The mission of the RAHC’s dental school program is to provide quality dental services including preventative, restorative, and oral hygiene to the low income patients who otherwise may not have access to dental care.
The RAHC is partnering with area schools to improve access to dental services for children. Tooth decay is the most common chronic disease in children, dental disease accounts for one million lost school hours in Virginia each year and chronic oral infections are linked to diabetes, heart disease, and adverse pregnancy outcomes. The RAHC is a “Smiles for Children” dental program. If a child has insurance through Medicaid, FAMIS and FAMIS Plus they can be seen at the dental clinic and the insurance will be billed. If the child does not have dental insurance they may be seen at the Rockbridge Area Health Center for a small fee.
Each school will send a consent form home.
Please fill out the consent form and return to the school before the in-school program is scheduled to visit the school. Every child must have consent form completely annually and on file at their school.
