On Tuesday, January 11, 2022, Rockbridge Area Health Center Certified Nurse Midwife Kimary Schatten stopped by the 3WZ studios to discuss women’s health care and prenatal services offered by the RAHC.
Kimary specializes in women’s health care for women in all stages of life, from teenagers to post-menopausal women and everything in-between. In her interview, Kimary spoke about the safety precautions that RAHC is taking to keep our patients and staff safe, including mandatory mask wearing, frequent sanitation and spacing in patient waiting areas. Many patients have missed their annual wellness visits during the last two years and it is important for them to catch up and get their annual wellness exam.
Kimary also spoke in depth about the unique prenatal program offered at RAHC. Rockbridge Area Health Center can provide all of the prenatal care appointments right in Rockbridge County. Partnerships enable patients to choose to deliver their child at UVA Health in Charlottesville or Augusta Health in Fishersville. Until recently, there has not been a women’s health care provider that lived and worked full time in Rockbridge County, avoiding the need for patients to travel long distances for care.
Rockbridge Area Health Center prenatal care also includes a visit with a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) during their first trimester. The RDN will provide dietary recommendations to maintain a healthy lifestyle during pregnancy.
During their third trimester, expecting mothers will have a chance to meet with an RAHC child care provider where they can discuss and coordinate routine examinations once the newborn arrives.
Our goal is to have a long term, trusting relationship with your family and child as they grow!
