RAHC provides medical care for children as they grow from newborns to adolescents. We offer well-child visits, sick visits, school physicals, sports physicals, developmental assessments, chronic disease management, vision and hearing screenings, mental and behavioral health assessments and referrals to pediatric specialists.
Rockbridge Area Health Center provides all necessary vaccinations for children & adults, including COVID-19 and annual flu vaccinations.
Rockbridge Area Health Center provides care for women throughout all stages of life, from adolescence through menopause. Care includes annual well-woman visits, problem visits, family planning visits, and prenatal care, and are also able to provide referrals for mammograms and to specialists. RAHC partners with Every Woman’s Life to provide free breast and cervical cancer screening services to qualified patients.
RAHC family planning and education specialists offer preconception counseling visits and contraceptives, including implants and IUDs. We offer confidential sexually transmitted infection screenings and pregnancy testing. Our family planning department can provide you with confidential services if requested.
RAHC is a Title X sub-grantee.
An RAHC Certified Nurse Midwife is on staff who provides comprehensive prenatal and postpartum care. Patients may choose to deliver their babies with one of RAHC’s partnering OB providers at the University of Virginia Medical Center or Augusta Health Medical Center. We also offer free courses about pregnancy, delivery, postpartum, newborn care, and breastfeeding to any expecting family in our community, regardless if they are patients at RAHC.
RAHC’s Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) provides Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) to patient’s living with a multitude of diagnoses, including those with chronic diseases, such as diabetes and high blood pressure and obesity. MNT includes an individualized nutrition diagnosis, establishing goals and a care plan for managing weight loss and weight gain plans, as well as counseling services to help manage a patient’s health condition. The RDN also provides information on how best to nourish the body with healthy foods and helps to develop meal plans to fit a patient’s specific health needs.
Patients are encouraged to discuss Nutrition Services with their providers.
