Raegan Paxton
Raegan Paxton is a Supervisee in Social Work working with children, adolescents, and families.
Raegan earned her Bachelors of Social Work degree from Mary Baldwin University. She received a Masters Degree in Social Work from Concord University.
Raegan is a lifelong Rockbridge resident who has previously served as a school counselor at Maury River Middle School, previously worked with therapeutic day treatment (TDT) counseling in Rockbridge County Public Schools, and previously provided Intensive In-Home and Crisis Intervention services in both Rockbridge County and Augusta County.
Raegan specializes in working with clients who experience challenges with anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism, self-harm, suicidal ideation, low self-esteem, and behavioral challenges. She works with students and families to help them learn and develop new skills to assist with emotion regulation, communication, building and maintaining healthy peer relationships, etc. which often present as a challenge in a post-pandemic world.
Raegan uses a strength-based, holistic approach that looks at the patient as a whole and involves other members of her patients’ families when possible. Raegan also utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Play Therapy, and various mindfulness techniques when working with her patients.
Raegan enjoys working with students in schools and is grateful to be able to reach kids that don’t have access to therapeutic resources elsewhere. She empowers her students to build confidence, resiliency, and self-esteem and encourages her clients to be who they are and not who others want them to be.
In her spare time, Raegan enjoys spending time with her family. She is the proud owner of three horses and spends her spare time riding and training with her horses in preparation for her competitions. She aspires to open a therapeutic riding center one day.
