Rockbridge Area Health Center (RAHC) is proud to raise awareness of its role as an authorized VA Community Care Network health center offering Veterans in Rockbridge County, Lexington, and Buena Vista the opportunity to access vital healthcare services without the need to travel to the VA Medical Center in Salem. This initiative is in alignment with the VA’s mission to provide care to Veterans through community providers when the VA cannot provide the necessary care or when a VA health facility is farther than a 30-minute average drive from home.
With over 2,000 Veterans residing in the area, RAHC is committed to making comprehensive healthcare services accessible to those who have served our country. Through this partnership, Veterans can access a range of services at RAHC, including primary medical, and behavioral health support. Additional offerings include chronic disease management, women’s health, lab services, diabetes care, and nutritional counseling.
All services are provided on behalf of and paid for by the VA when VA facilities are unable to provide the necessary care. Veterans must get a referral from their VA health care team before making an appointment for care with a community care provider.
“We have Veterans, including myself, on staff who understand the unique challenges and experiences of those who have served,” said Dr. Michael Henry, COL (ret) and medical director of RAHC. “RAHC is dedicated to honoring Veterans by making high-quality healthcare more accessible locally and avoiding the inconvenience of driving over an hour to the VA. As part of the VA Community Care Network, we work closely with the VA and insurance providers to ensure Veterans have coverage. We are proud to serve those who served.”
